Jack is the King of Halloween and the tallest plush in the whole Society — a floppy scarecrow with an embroidered pumpkin grin, a felt field hat and a stitched burlap duster. He does not glow. He does not frighten anybody. He simply stands in the pumpkin field with one twig hand raised, waiting for the last child to come up the lane.
