A rickety timber trestle rises out of the harbour at blue hour, threading between the mooring posts and the mast-tops of the tall ships at anchor. Riders climb aboard a hollowed-log boat with a brass lantern at the bow, drift out past the boardwalk, and lift slowly toward the lighthouse. At the summit the flume tips over the edge — one long, moonlit plunge down the lighthouse wall into a splash pool churning against the sea wall. Salt spray, storm lanterns, and the tolling of the harbour bell. A first-person POV ride is being rigged now.
The Tide-Breaker was built from the timbers of a smuggler's schooner that struck the lighthouse in a storm and refused to sink. Dockhands swear the flume finds its own current — and that on the plunge, if you listen past the splash, you can still hear the old ship's bell tolling under the sea wall.
