The grand cabin fills the stern with sunlight off the water — knotted rope swings and a rigging net hang from the beams, a polished wooden slide curls down from the officers' walk, and a little crow's-nest reading nook sits high in the corner with cushions and a brass telescope. In the middle a great round chart table is always buried under treasure maps and model ships, bunting and paper lanterns criss-cross the ceiling, and hammocks swing between the ribs below decks.
