Never hurries. Never worries. Never has to.
Jimmy Skunk lives in the old hollow log at the bend of the Lone Little Path, and he sleeps in it whenever the mood takes him, which is often.
Nobody in the Green Forest bothers Jimmy, and Jimmy bothers nobody. He ambles. He turns over stones looking for fat beetles. He gives excellent, extremely slow advice.
He is the calmest person in the forest, and in a crisis everybody ends up asking Jimmy what to do.

The real Striped skunk
- A skunk always gives warnings first — stamping his front feet and raising his tail — before he ever sprays.
- Skunks eat beetles, grubs and wasp larvae, which makes them very good friends to a garden.
- They have poor eyesight but an excellent nose, and they dig little cone-shaped holes hunting for grubs.
- Skunks don't truly hibernate; they doze through the coldest weeks and come out on mild nights.
