The story
- The first hard frost. The Smiling Pool goes silent.
- Peter cannot find Grandfather Frog anywhere and fears the worst.
- He asks everyone. Nobody explains it well.
- Jimmy Skunk takes him to the pool and tells him about winter sleep.
- Long snowy months, and Peter visits the frozen pool anyway.
- First warm day: 'Chug-a-rum.' Peter nearly bursts.
