The story
- Peter brags about his speed on the ground. Happy Jack brags about his speed in the trees.
- The whole forest gathers at the Smiling Pool for a race.
- Grandfather Frog sets the course: Peter along the path, Happy Jack through the branches.
- Both go so fast they miss the turn and end up in the same blackberry tangle.
- Neither will admit defeat, so Grandfather Frog declares the trees and the ground both winners.
- They share the blackberries instead.
